Any ideas on how to improve this further? Hiding the table of content would content would be nice, but I can't remember how that's done.

I can't think of any other prominent uses of the seal at the moment. I know it's on the ready room podium, but that's really just a version of ship's seal.

Making a DVD screencap of the CIC logo (from "33") would be nice to get rid of the SkyOne logo. Then that can be placed at the top of the article, so you don't need to scroll down to get a picture. I can do that tomorrow if no one else gets around to it. Also cool would be a better picture of Galacticas hull seal, but the only good one I found is on the ZOIC schematics on ship's page. That would probably have to be a HD source though.

Personally, I think of the bird as a phoenix for some reason, but that's probably personal interpretation that doesn't belong here. --Serenity 16:47, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

Very good article. I'll see if I can get a better screencap for you to replace the one with the SkyOne logo. Also, to hide the table of contents, use __NOTOC__. I've already done it for this article, though. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 17:36, 6 August 2007 (CDT)
Ah. I knew it was something with noTOC, but I tried using braces like in templates. The seal is from the end of the credits I believe. If you don't want to, I can do it tomorrow. It's just a tad late for me to go around rummaging for my DVDs. --Serenity 17:43, 6 August 2007 (CDT)
The cap in question (because I believe I was actually the one who captured it), is going to be exclusive to the Season 1 episodes, at the end of the opening credits. Regardless, if I don't get to it, you're more than welcome to fix it. ;-) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 18:56, 6 August 2007 (CDT)
Note: I remember capturing one like it. No matter. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 18:57, 6 August 2007 (CDT)
Never mind. I updated the picture. Unlike some others, this one is easy to get :) --Serenity 05:18, 7 August 2007 (CDT)

Egyptian symbolism

I'm not too familiar with the Original Series. Is there such a seal like this in the Original Series? If there is, then that can defiantly be another connection to Egyptian mythology and symbolism, such as the pryamid-shaped buildings in Caprica... Just a thought. And if there is no such seal in the Original Series... Nevermind! :P -- Veepz 23:34, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

I don't think it's really from TOS, but it would fit. It's just that the feathers really do look a lot like flames. --Serenity 04:36, 7 August 2007 (CDT)
They certainly do. Personally, I have no doubt that it's the Phoenix; looks too much like one... Could be a good one to ask Bradley Thompson about. -- Veepz 05:04, 7 August 2007 (CDT)
A phoenix: Maybe an allusion to a story which has risen from the ashes?. Yes, this is a good Bradley question. --Spencerian 10:46, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

Colonial Seal more "speculation"

Okay, I'm trying to do this properly now.....:) Caprica 6 refers to herself several times as an angel or an angel of God. In the Eye of Jupiter podcast commentary (Thank the Gods to the person who transcribed it) there is this little tidbit of information: "I felt that they woul- because you, the audience, know there's no way they're giving them the Eye of Jupiter for Baltar, it's kind of a jerkoff to go out and come back, and that really the only reason that it existed was for Baltar to give this information to Gaeta. And we just decided that, you know what, Gaeta can discover this on his own. Which is a- ironically the way it was in the original story outline. Gaeta was going to discover that information on his own and tell Galactica about it. And somewhere in the drafting we decided that- to give- we wanted to give Baltar something that made him be trying to be on the side of the angels, still. He still doesn't see himself as a villain. He still doesn't see himself as completely part of the Cylon agenda." The reason I point out this particular passage in the commentary, Is I believe that RDM has given away much more information than intended. what does he mean by the side of angels and if there is an "Angel side" is there a "Demon side or Fallen Angel side" as well??? Things that make you go hmmmmm..... Now you may be asking yourself why the bloody frak am I discussing this on the Colonial Seal page? Every time I look at the Colonial Seal, it looks more like a winged angel than a bird or a phoenix..... Just thought I would share my thoughts on this. --Chroy of Caprica 14:26, 23 August 2007 (CDT)

(Thank the Gods to the person who transcribed it)
That would be User:Steelviper. And personally, I think RDM's usage of "the side of the angels" is just meant as a synonym for the side of the Colonials, i.e. the good sides. One of the things you notice when transcribing podcasts done by writers is that they tend to have an insanely large vocabulary (see also Podcast talk: pages for RDM's Word of the Week) and that coming up with synonyms has become their second nature. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 16:58, 23 August 2007 (CDT)
