A lupus is a carnivorous animal, similar to a wolf, usually undomesticated.
There were lupus (plural: lupi) on Equellus; like wolves, they typically razed herds (The Lost Warrior).
In Earth biological nomenclature, Lupus is the genus for the wolf family.
