Doreen is the adoptive mother of Starbuck. Classified as a victim of the Thousand Yahren War, she, with her husband Gawr, are assigned to raise Starbuck, another victim of the war.

Doreen's war injuries, a result of a laser attack that she miraculously survives, result in her being nearly blind (The Young Warriors).
