Dmitri was an alias used by Chameleon in order to swindle three Borellian Nomen out of money. According to the Nomen, "Dmitri" told them that he was the commanding officer of a livestock ship and could help them gain parts to a spacecraft. After finding that they had been swindled, the Nomen swore a blood hunt on "the jackal, Captain Dmitri" and pursued "Dmitri" to the Rising Star (The Man with Nine Lives).

It is unknown whether or not a Dmitri actually existed, though it would be logical to assume that Dmitri was a real person and that Chameleon used the captain's name in order to have an identity to conduct clandestine business dealings.
