The bulk of the Colonial military is lured into a trap by the promise of peace, only to find themselves and the Twelve Colonies of Man in a fatal trap (vol2).

Following this event, two noteworthy factions harass the Cylon Empire: a Colonial Resistance lead by Adama himself, and a motley crew of pirates lead by Starbuck (vol2 & )
Adama and Apollo surrender themselves to Baltifer, conveying themselves to his baseship in Apollo's Temporal Viper, in return for Baltifer's word that no further temporal weapons are to be used against Cache. As Apollo flies into the eye of the storm, Galactica launches its attack against the basestar with both its standard arsenal and the signal disruptor. This allows Adama to seize command by killing Baltifer, and forcing Zee to release the human prisoners aboard, effectively retaking the baseship and using the basestar's batteries to wipe up the remaining Raiders.

Baltifer's pursuit of the renegade, incongruous Galactica leads them to the system containing Cache, the homebase of the Colonial Resistance in an alternate reality (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #4).

Upon arriving in Cache's system, Starbuck activates the homing beacon on his Temporal Viper to home in on Apollo and the Q-Cache. With this direct link established, Baltifer's baseship seizes the inopportune moment to jump in using its newly outfitted temporal warp drive.

While Galactica is able to use its sensor shield to prevent its detection, the Resistance base has the misfortune of an active beacon that allows Baltifer to identify the location of the base despite the nearby supergiant's sensor interference. From that point, Baltifer deploys a second temporal weapon, the chronal cannon, using it to convert the planetoid's tectonic plates to a historic, seismically unstable configuration.

Adama and Apollo surrender themselves to Baltifer, conveying themselves to his baseship in Apollo's Temporal Viper, in return for Baltifer's word that no further temporal weapons are to be used against Cache. On a technicality, Baltifer reneges on the deal, using standard weapons aboard Raiders instead (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #4).

This second wave of attacks is staved by Apollo's willingness to lead Baltifer to his home reality, and Doctor Zee uses the Viper's data to recreate the temporal storm through the firing of the re-attuned chronal cannons.

However, the temporal storm erupts, moving the surviving participants of the battle into the reality from whence Apollo and Starbuck came (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #5).
