:Answer is simple: How could the USS Missouri be old enough to be a veteran of World War II, yet still be used for combat in the First Persian Gulf War? There were 12 original battlestars; it was never said that they were "decommissioned"; Galactica is "the last of her kind"....in that she was never given an extensive refit/update. Possibly all of the original 12 battlestars could still have been in service, including Atlantia, but they were giving full overhauls and their hulls refitted with modern technology and ''networked computers''. The USS Missouri was put through ''extensive'' refits to modernize its internal machinery; it had laser-guided cruise-missiles for PGW I. I mean there's precedence of this kind of thing in the real world.
