Shortly after the destruction of the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards, Pegasus attacks a Cylon communications relay, which is believed to be lightly guarded.
After jumping into the area and DRADIS picking up twelve enemy contacts, Admiral Helena Cain gives the order to launch Blue Squadron. Immediately after that, the Cylons jump in 15 full squadrons of Raiders, after which Cain realizes that the installation is not a simple communication station, but a staging ground for Cylon forces.
Colonels Fisk and Belzen recommend to recover the Vipers and retreat from the superior enemy forces. However, Cain orders to launch the remaining Vipers instead. At the same time Gina takes the weapons grid offline, which is switched to manual control. Belzen is convinced that they were lured into a trap and urges Cain to retreat, reminding her that she promised that such actions would not happen. When Belzen officially refuses to carry out her orders, she asks him to hand over his sidearm and shoots him in the head with it. She then turns to Colonel Fisk who orders the reserve Vipers to be launched.
Cylon Heavy Raiders land in the port flight pod and land a Centurion boarding party, which gains access to the ship with the help of Gina. Kendra Shaw goes there to investigate and finds a Number Six entering the corridor, thus realizing that Gina is a Cylon agent. After shooting her, she returns to CIC and unmasks Gina by showing everyone a security camera feed of the dead Six. When Marines try to apprehend Gina, she breaks the neck of one and uses his sidearm to shoot one other, before Shaw knocks her unconscious with a rifle [2].
The exact details of the rest of the battle are unknown, but the communications station is presumably destroyed, and Pegasus escapes with severe losses. 32 Vipers are destroyed and 62 badly damaged. The acting chief believes that the crew does not possess enough resources to repair them all. While Cain seems to realize her error when she hears of the losses, Shaw thinks that they "put the enemy on notice" ("Pegasus", "Razor").
Notes
- Gina is mentioned as having been vital in discovering the communications relay. Since it later appears to be a trap by the Cylons, it is possible that she intentionally lured the battlestar into it.

- ↑ Kendra Shaw reports "at least 816 dead, 121 injured". Earlier, Colonel Belzen reports the loss of over 700 people in the attack on the shipyards. Given Pegasus's full crew complement of approximately 2,500, adding both numbers would mean that over half of the crew died. This article assumes that Shaw is relating the casualties of both battles.
- ↑ In "Pegasus", Lt. Thorne states that Gina killed seven people. Since only two kills are shown in "Razor", he either refers to actions before or after her arrest as well.
