Silver Spar Squadron was based on the Battlestar Pegasus (TOS). Commanded by Cain's daughter Sheba, the squadron was first shown in the TOS episode The Living Legend.

The squadron insignia (a winged silver spar on a red shield) is also the insignia of the Battlestar PEGASUS itself, and appears on the exteriors of its vipers (just below the cockpit sill).
