Biographical Notes

Her father is Bud Yorkin, well-known producer, director, and creator of television series including "Sanford and Son" (1972), "All in the Family" (1971) and "One in a Million" (1980).

Before going into television, Nicole, a Berkeley graduate, was a reporter for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, where she was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for a series of articles about a 12-year-old prostitute.

She met another BSG writer Dawn Prestwich, who was then a published short story writer, at the American Film Institute and they have been a team ever since. They have worked on various television shows over ten plus years, including "Chicago Hope," "Picket Fences," and "Ally McBeal" and won a Writer's Guild Award in 2003 for their drama pilot, "The Education of Max Bickford." They also were writers and Co-Executive Producers on "Carnivale," the HBO series where fellow BSG writer Toni Graphia also worked.
