Kacey is a two year-old girl who lives on board Galactica with her mother, Julia Prynne (Torn). Kacey also has a special bond with Kara Thrace.

On New Caprica

During the Cylon occupation of New Caprica, Leoben Conoy brings Kacey into the apartment in the New Caprica Detention Center where he is holding Thrace. He claims Kacey is their child. According to Leoben, one of Thrace's eggs, removed from her during The Farm, was fertilized with his genetic material and implanted in a human surrogate mother.

Thrace doesn't want anything to do with Kacey and hides in the bathroom when Leoben leaves the two of them alone together (Precipice). But Kacey falls and needs medical care, which seems to change Thrace's feelings toward her. After she is released from the Cylon medical center, Thrace is seen tenderly putting Kacey to bed, and it seems Thrace genuinely cares for her (Exodus, Part I).

When Samuel Anders frees Thrace from her prison during Galactica's rescue attempt, Thrace goes back to make sure Kacey escapes (Exodus, Part II).

On Galactica

Immediately after Thrace and Kacey's return to Galactica, Kacey is reunited with her real mother, Julia Prynne. Prynne reveals that the Cylons took Kacey from her earlier in the occupation and she feared that her child was dead (Exodus, Part II).

Some time after their return, Kacey and her mother are living as refugees in Camp Oil Slick on Galactica. Kacey still remembers Thrace and wants to see her. Thrace is still recovering from Leoben's manipulations and does not want to see Kacey, telling her mother not to visit her again.

Later, Thrace has a change of heart and visits the two in their makeshift home on the hangar deck. Kacey shares a doll with Thrace and Thrace seems to have come to terms with their relationship (Torn).

Notes

In his Precipice podcast, Ronald D. Moore says that Madeline Parker, the child actor who plays Kacey, is "one of the better child actors I've worked with."
He goes on to explain that Katee Sackhoff (Kara Thrace) and Parker share a special bond off screen in addition to their relationship on screen. In his Precipice podcast, Moore says that Sackhoff would often play with Parker between takes, and in the Torn podcast he states and that Sackhoff stood off camera and coached Parker during filming.
