Battlestar Wiki:The Twelve Colonies

This is my to-do list for articles about the Twelve Colonies. I'm posting it as a new WikiProject for others to discuss and participate in.

General Considerations

• Currently articles are titled in the form "X of/in the Twelve Colonies".

• Should individual articles be of the general form "Colonial Religion", "Colonial Government", "Colonial History" (ie, the Colonials as a people, including the Twelve Colonies AND the Fleet) or should Fleet issues be given their own series?

Template

I have created Template:Twelve Colonies Series to link main articles relating to this topic into a series. I have contributed heavily to three of these pages - Life Forms of the Twelve Colonies, Race and Ethnicity in the Twelve Colonies and Language in the Twelve Colonies. Obviously I consider these well in hand, and would direct any commentary or criticism to their respective talk pages.

The others, I chose somewhat arbitrarily, in order to provide a good idea of the ground I feel we need to cover. I would like discussion of their direction to take place on this WikiProject, since the specific articles linked to are not necessarily the ones we'll be polishing up.

The Twelve Colonies

The Article "The Twelve Colonies", and the articles on the individual colonies should all be considered stubs at the moment, and no additional information appears to be readily forthcoming. I would like to merge the contents of each of the articles on the individual colonies into the article for the Twelve Colonies. If you object, please state your case.

History

History currently links to Re-Imagined Series Timeline. The article History of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol is fanfic and should be deleted, but we need a more robust article located at History of the Twelve Colonies. Such an article should contain:

• A conservative reading of the historical information available from the Sacred Scrolls on the exodus from Kobol and founding of the twelve colonies
• A history of the inter-colonial fighting which lead to the Articles of Colonization
  • Including notes on Sagittaron's exploitation by the other colonies (Bastille Day)
• A merger and redirect from the material in Cylon War

Religion

Religion currently links to Lords of Kobol, this should be supplemented (or replaced) by an article Religion in the Twelve Colonies. Such an article should contain:

• Belief
  • A general statement of the correspondence between the historical Greek Gods and the Lords of Kobol.
    • A (short) description of their existance with humanity on Kobol (linking to the History article for details).
    • Brief speculation on the nature of these beings (Athena died, Valerii doubts their divinity, they appeared to posess advanced holographic technology in Athena's tomb) (link to Lords of Kobol for details?)
  • The Cycle of Time and the Pythian Prophecy (cf Sacred Scrolls)

• Practice
  • Individual practice
    • Kara Thrace's small idols of Artemis and Aphrodite
    • Billy's atheism
    • Secular, not reverential, preservation of the Arrow of Apollo
  • The priesthood
    • Role in civil and government affairs (Roslin is sworn into office by a priest, Elosha and others preside over funerals)
    • Use of Chamalla

Government

Currently links to Government. Move to Government of the Twelve Colonies and expand.
